Privacy Policy
Effective October 29, 2026
The short version: The Voicepage app has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your shows, stacks, listening progress and the people you follow stay on your device and, with iCloud sync (free, on unless you turn it off), in your own private iCloud, which we can't see. We don't collect your data, so we have nothing to sell or share. If the app crashes or freezes, it sends an anonymous crash report so we can fix the bug. The website (not the app) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page visits without cookies or tracking you across sites.
This policy covers the Voicepage podcast app on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and CarPlay ("Voicepage", "the app"), made by the Voicepage developer ("we", "us").
What stays on your device
Voicepage saves what it needs to work, only on your device, in the app's own storage:
- Your library: the shows you subscribe to (their feed addresses), their episodes, and which stack each episode is in (Sort, Up Next, Shelf, Someday, Skip and your own stacks).
- People you follow: the names of the hosts, guests or subjects you follow.
- Listening: playback position, played status and your player settings.
- Downloads: episode audio you download for offline listening.
- Transcripts, summaries and clips: transcripts from a show's own transcript file or made on your device, the summaries and clips you create, and a search index over them.
- A random install ID: a random code made when you start using the app. It isn't linked to your name, Apple Account or device, and is used only for search rate limiting (see below).
None of this is sent to us. Deleting the app deletes everything it saved on that device. With iCloud sync (below), your library, the people you follow and your listening are also kept in your own private iCloud.
iCloud sync (free, iPhone and iPad)
iCloud sync keeps your iPhone and iPad in step. Voicepage stores your subscriptions (their feed addresses), the people you follow, your stacks, which stack each episode is in, played status and listening position in your own private iCloud database. That data is stored by Apple in your iCloud account under Apple's privacy policy; it isn't sent to us and we can't see it, so it isn't data we collect. Per-show settings, downloads, transcripts, summaries and clips stay on each device and aren't synced.
Sync is on unless you turn it off in Settings ▸ Sync, and you can turn it off at any time. If you aren't signed in to iCloud, Voicepage works as before and keeps everything on your device. Turning sync off doesn't delete anything; to remove the synced copy, delete Voicepage's data from iCloud in your device's iCloud settings.
Apple Watch and CarPlay
The Apple Watch app gets your Up Next, what's playing and your listening position from your iPhone, directly between your iPhone and your Apple Watch (Apple's WatchConnectivity), and sends playback position back the same way. Episodes you choose to keep on the Watch are copied from your iPhone to the Watch. That data stays on your iPhone and Apple Watch; it isn't sent to us. The Watch app has no crash reporter and doesn't connect to our search server. CarPlay shows the same library from your iPhone on your car's screen; nothing extra is sent anywhere.
On-device AI
Transcripts the app makes itself use Apple's on-device speech recognition, and summaries use Apple Intelligence running on your device. Audio, transcripts and summaries are not sent to us or to any cloud AI service. On devices without these features, the related options are hidden or unavailable.
Crash and hang diagnostics
If Voicepage crashes or freezes (an "app hang"), it sends an anonymous diagnostic report to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), the crash-reporting service we use to find and fix bugs. A report says where in the app's code it went wrong (the stack trace), plus the app version, the device model, the OS version, language and region setting, and free memory at the time. It does not include your name, email, Apple Account, IP address, the install ID or any other identifier, your shows, stacks, people, listening, searches, transcripts or clips, screenshots, or what you were looking at. The app sends nothing else to Sentry: no usage or launch counts, no performance traces, no network logs and no session recordings. Reports are used only to fix bugs, never for tracking or ads, and aren't linked to you. Sentry stores them for us under its privacy policy and deletes each report automatically after at most 90 days.
Where the app connects
- Podcast publishers. Like any podcast app, Voicepage downloads feeds, episode audio, artwork, chapters and transcript files straight from the servers each show uses. Those servers receive what any website receives: your IP address and the file requested. Their own privacy policies apply.
- Our search server. When you search for a show or a person, the app asks our small search server, which forwards the search to Podcast Index, an open podcast directory. Our server receives your search words, your IP address, the random install ID above and a key that is the same for every copy of the app. It uses a one-way scrambled form of your IP address and install ID only to stop any one device from sending too many searches, keeps no log of searches, and keeps nothing that identifies you after the request is answered. Podcast Index receives the search words from our server, not your IP address or install ID. Search results may be cached briefly, without anything that identifies you.
- Sentry (sentry.io), only when the app crashes or freezes: the anonymous diagnostic report described above. Like any website, Sentry's servers see the IP address the report comes from; the app tells Sentry not to store it.
- Apple, for subscriptions and, if you turn it on, iCloud sync.
The app contains no analytics or advertising code. Its only third-party code is Sentry's crash reporter (above).
If you tap a link (for example a show's website or this page), it opens in your browser, and that website's own privacy policy applies.
This website
The website (not the app) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page visits without cookies or tracking you across sites. It doesn't set cookies, and it doesn't see anything you do in the app. Like any website, voicepageapp.com's host (Cloudflare) receives your IP address and the page you asked for. The app doesn't use Cloudflare Web Analytics or any other analytics.
Subscriptions
Voicepage Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription sold through Apple's App Store, each with a 1-week free trial for new subscribers, or a one-time Lifetime purchase. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in your App Store account settings; Lifetime doesn't renew.
Apple handles the payment. We never see your name, card number or Apple Account. The app only checks with Apple whether your subscription or Lifetime purchase is active, so it can unlock Voicepage Pro features. Apple's privacy policy covers your purchase: apple.com/legal/privacy.
No account, no tracking, no ads
- There is no sign-up or login.
- We don't track you across apps or websites, and we don't use advertising identifiers.
- We don't show ads.
- We don't sell, rent or share personal data, because we don't collect it.
Children
Voicepage is a general-audience podcast player and isn't aimed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because the app doesn't collect personal information at all.
Your choices
Because your data lives on your device (and optionally your own iCloud), you're in control: unsubscribe from shows, unfollow people, delete downloads, turn iCloud sync off, or delete the app to remove everything on that device. If you have a question about your data, email us and we'll answer.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever starts handling data differently, we'll update this page and the date at the top before that version of the app is released.
